European guidelines for workplace drug testing in hair

May 15, 2019

The new guidelines by the European Drug Testing Society (EWDTS) has been published.

The EWDTS guidelines will assist laboratories and national accreditation bodies in Europe in developing policies, processes and procedures to bring consistency and ensure high quality drug testing services using hair samples.

Cansford, through Lolita Tsanaclis, the Scientific Director of Cansford Laboratories, provided expert scientific advice in the preparation of the updated version of the “European Guidelines for Workplace Drug Testing in Hair”.

This is another example of Cansford Labs networking with the world’s top experts in the industry and bringing insight, innovation and best practice in the area of drug testing. The EWDTS hair testing guidelines details and recommends best practice procedures whilst allowing countries to operate within the requirements of national custom and legislation.
  • Guidelines are a non-mandatory recommendation of best practice to hair testing laboratories.
  • Guidelines assist laboratories to introduce procedures that will help to satisfy the standards of accreditation bodies.
  • The EWDTS Guidelines are based on the international guidelines, and cover processes from sample collection to maintenance of chain of custody up to the issue of the results, including laboratory management, screening, confirmation and interpretation of results.
Cansford Labs methods are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). This means that you will get results that have been analysed using controlled methods with procedures that have been independently assessed to the highest levels of quality.
