Cansford Labs partner Dads House recognised by PM for their work

Jul 9, 2019

Family court cases have the ability to completely alter the course of a family’s lives - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. At times like these, it’s vital that those involved have the support they need throughout the process.

In 2008, Billy McGranaghan set up the charity Dads House to provide this support - and more - to single fathers finding the practicalities of raising their children alone a challenge. It’s a charity that offers help in a number of different ways: finding accommodation, a food bank service, a buddy network, family law advice and hair and drug testing, to name but a few.

And at Cansford Labs, we offer our support with the latter, partnering with Dads House to provide fully accredited hair and drug testing services to those who have been asked to take them by the family courts. We’re proud to work with a charity that makes such a major difference to so many lives - and we’re thrilled that their work has now been recognised by Prime Minister Theresa May.

Billy received a Points of Light award - an award that “recognises outstanding individual volunteers - people who are making a change in their community”. As part of this recognition, he also received a personal letter from Theresa May, commending him on the work that Dads House does for the fathers the charity works with.

“Through ‘Dads House’ you are bringing together dads to share their experiences and receive practical and emotional support”, reads the letter. “Drawing on your own experience, you are connecting single fathers across the country and having a profound impact on their lives and the lives of their families.”

Huge congratulations to Billy and Dads House for this fantastic achievement - we’re proud to be working with an individual and an organisation so committed to real, positive change.
